PSYC444 is a fourth-year thesis course. Students enrolled in this course will run a semester long undergraduate research thesis in an area of their choice with a faculty member who is an expert in that area.
It is expected that upon the completion of this thesis course, a student should be able to:
1) Come up with good, feasible research ideas and write them up as proposals.
2) Apply for research ethics clearances and manage the process.
3) Have an awareness of ethical issues and the rights of participants.
4) Read and integrate the relevant literature and write up a coherent literature review.
5) Collect and analyse data with appropriate statistical techniques.
6) Interpret the statistical analyses, accurately interpret the hypotheses, write up a coherent and accurate results section and create figures and tables that visually and efficiently summarise the data.
7) Interpret the findings in relation to the existing literature and summarise the implications. They are also expected to come up with future research ideas.
