Synthesis and Characterization of Naphthalimide Imidazolium Salts

Özet:
In this thesis, N-(3-propylimidazole)-1,8-naphthalene monoimide starting material was synthesized by using 1,8-naphthalic anhydride and 1-(3-aminopropyl)imidazole. Synthesized compound was reacted with the alkyl iodide salts, which have different alkyl chain lengths and the corresponding 1,8-naphthalimide imidazolium iodide salts were obtained. With the ion exchange reactions, hexafluorophosphate (PF6-) salts and
bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide ((CF3SO2)2N- or TFSI-) ionic liquids were obtained.
The structure of all synthesized compounds has been identified by UV-Vis, FTIR, H-NMR, C-NMR, P-NMR and F-NMR spectroscopic methods. Thermal stability tests were performed by TGA. Emission properties were measured by fluorimeter and redox potentials were determined with cyclic voltammetry. Thermal, photophysical and electrochemical properties were investigated.
