Abstract
In this paper, the finite element models of Euler-Bernoulli beams and thin plates are used for modelling the structures, and finite element models for piezoelectric actuators and sensors are derived. H-infinity control is used for controlling the vibrations of beams and plates. A procedure based on controllability and observability Gramians is used to find the best locations of the actuators and sensors. Two examples are given.
