The future smart home requires a number of sensors and appliances combination to run and improve the lifestyle of home users. However, these appliances and sensors require a high amount of energy to operate. In this research article, a smart home control system is proposed using ZigBee based sensor architecture to automate home appliances based on user profile and take full advantage of the modeling human-appliances interaction. The proposed system is composed of two components: 1) user profile system to control unnecessary energy consumption, and 2) home energy management system which collects data from home appliances and operates them accordingly. The efficient computer simulation is also executed to test the efficiency of the proposed scheme comparing the manual operations of the appliances. The analysis and results reveal that the proposed system is efficient enough to significantly reduce the energy consumption of smart home appliances.
