Within the last decade, technology enhancements have been evolving for the Internet of Things, with various applications and services. Among these applications, Internet of Vehicles (IoV) especially including flying vehicles, known as drones, are the evolution of conventional vehicle ad hoc networks. With the development of technology including the computation and communication, the interest in IoV has been rapidly developed. Machine learning algorithm applications have been applying to multidisciplinary fields for a long time. Different machine learning algorithms have been proposed and studied for other wireless technologies such as wireless sensor networks; however, existing studies are quite limited in the literature for IoV and drones. Hence, in this article, existing suggested solutions in the literature are critically studied. This paper proposes different machine learning applications and frameworks for drones as well as limitations and challenges regarding the recent developments of IoV with artificial intelligence.
