Biography

Abdullah Ekinci has graduated with the highest GPA from The American College of Cyprus. In 2004, he enrolled on a Civil Engineering course at Coventry University, UK where he successfully awarded Master of Engineering (MEng) degree. Subsequent to his studies, in 2008, he joined Shires Consulting at Birmingham, UK as a Geotechnical Engineer. During his career at Shires Consulting, he successfully tackled numerous geotechnical design problems and supervised consequent field works. In 2009 he joined University College London as a Ph.D. candidate, focusing on research which was an EPSRC funded project supported by Highways Agency and Mouchel Consulting. Starting with his Ph.D. studies, Ekinci has shaped his research track in the areas of Critical State Soil Mechanics (CSSM), ground improvement, and monitoring. He has also consulted number of geotechnical projects where the most prestigious ones are New Ercan International Airport and the European Commission-funded Güngör sanitary landfill. With his more than 30 publications in international journals and Conferences, Ekinci is a faculty member of the Middle East Technical University NCC, Secretary-General of Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Civil Engineers (IMO) and member of Laboratory Testing (TC101) and Ground Improvement (TC211) Technical Committees of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE)
